A lifestyle session at the Nelson.

A Family Session with MRP

There is something so wonderful about combining art, architecture, and authentic family moments — and this session at the beautiful Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art was exactly that. Between the sweeping lawns, iconic sculptures, and timeless stone-and-glass backdrops, the museum created the perfect setting for a lifestyle session full of love, laughter, and so much personality.

This sweet family of three — plus their giant dog that honestly needed his own saddle — brought so much joy and energy to the entire evening. Their darling little guy eventually fell sound asleep, and the images of him curled up under the famous shuttlecock sculptures are almost too much for my heart to handle.

We wandered the museum grounds together, capturing a mix of candid moments and softly posed portraits that felt natural and full of connection. Sessions like this are such a reminder that family photos do not have to feel stiff or overly formal to be meaningful. Sometimes the magic is simply in the walking, the sitting, the snuggles, the laughter, and the in-between moments with your littles.

Those slower lifestyle moments are truly some of my favorite things to photograph. I was so honored this family trusted me to capture their crew, and I genuinely hope I get to see them all again soon.
