A Fall Family Session at the Sunken Garden

Fall 2025

the Groepper family

The Sunken Garden in Mission Hills is one of those places that feels almost hidden—quiet stone steps, winding paths, and autumn leaves that turn it into the perfect little backdrop for family photos.

This family’s session was such a treat. Their darling daughter brought so much personality, and I found myself chasing this little doll and her sweet pup through the miniature garden. Between the bubbles floating around her, her laughter, and the way her parents lit up watching it all, every frame carried the warmth of this season.

What I love most about photographing families in Kansas City—especially in spots like the Sunken Garden—is how it gives us both timeless portraits and genuine glimpses of real life. The garden’s classic architecture offered beautiful structure, while the moments of play showed their love in the most honest way.

As a Kansas City family photographer, these sessions remind me that fall isn’t just about the colors in the trees—it’s about capturing connection, joy, and the fleeting details that make this season of life unforgettable.
